Sayulita Revisited and Boca de IguanasApril 2006Subtitle-->Alter the “mayhem” of Semana Santa we decided to check out Sayulita to see if the surf was working again and connect via the internet. We met some super nice folks from Winterpark and Crested Butte, Colorado. The surf was fun and Sarah learned how to go left on a wave after spending so much time going right last year in Baja. Carol from CO hooked us up with some great pictures despite the small surf conditions, thanks Carol! While in Sayulita, Eric got stung by a Portugeuse Man-of-War while hiking to a remote beach with Joe and Kristen. By the time we hiked back to the van the pain was coming on pretty strong so we pulled out the first aid kit and read what to do. The treatment that worked was filling a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol, spraying the effected area for as long as is burning. We heard through email that our friends from Seattle were planning a trip to Puerto Vallarta. Scott sent us all the info and we decided that there was no way we were going to miss the chance to see friends. Since they weren’t set to arrive for another week we decided to head south to Boca de Iguanas near Barra de Navidad. The drive south from Puerto Vallarta was amazing as it wound around from the coast into the mountains which amazingly contained pine trees. The camping at Boca de Iguanas was empty and lush with sturdy palapas large enough to hang your hammock and rest in the shade. The surf was rather large and unshapely so we spent our time reading, playing smashball, flying the kite, playing with Bruce and eating. Good times. The only bummer was that our Minolta camera took a dive on us and failed to capture any pictures from this particular leg of the voyage. After several days it was time to head back north to meet our friends. |
