Happy New Year 2007 to all! We are still alive and kicking down in Central America, El Salvador to be exact. We are soooo far behind on our website that we thought we would give you a quick overview and unleash some new photos. Technical difficulties have made it problematic to bring this update to you;laptop crash, trouble finding reliable connections, the list goes on. But the good news is, we have lots for you to look at.

We have put together a total of 5 albums to bring you almost up to the new year they are as follows:

  • Oaxaca to Chiapas Covers our final month in southern Mexico
  • Guatemala A month of study and exploring Guatemala
  • Honduras Explorations of ruins and the Carribean Bay Island of Utila
  • Nicaragua Surf exploration in Nicaragua
  • Costa Rica Bogging the rain and exploring Costa Rica on our way south
  • Panama our arrival at the Panama Canal with Noah our Brother

So the overview is basically that we spent another Month in southern Mexico exploring the Oaxaca coast, the city of Oaxaca and the surrounding towns, Chiapas including Tuxtla Gutierrez and San Cristobal de las Casas. We then crossed into our first Central American country by entering Guatemala where we camped and studied Spanish for several weeks in the area around Lago Atitlan. We took the local buses and explored the amazing areas around Lago Atitlan including Chichicastenango and Quetzaltenango. Our next adventure led us to the Mayan ruins of Copan in Northern Honduras followed by some Carribean time scuba diving on the bay island of Utila. We then headed into Nicaragua where we spent nearly a month exploring the small coastal towns, Managua and finding loads of great people and beutiful waves. From Nicaragua we crossed into Costa Rica and spent several weeks hiding from the rain when possible and waiting to meet up with our Brother/Brother-in-law Noah. He joined us in San Jose and traveled all the way to Panama City. We caught some great surf and found some really interesting places in Panama. Arriving at the Panama Canal was a major milestone and we were excited to share it with Noah before dropping him off at the airport. We then spent close to another month exploring from the sea to the mountains in Panama. Highlights include the town of Volcan, surfing in Santa Catalina and Playa Vanao. On our trip back through Costa Rica we explored more of the coast including Uvita, Playa Hermosa, Boca Barranca, Monteverde, Volcan Arenal, Malpais, Samara, and Playa Avellanes. We then met Ericīs sister Alison in Granada Nicaragua where we celebrated Christmas and the New Year in a beutiful house rented as a gift by Ericīs parents. After saying goodbye to Alison and 2006 we continued north passing briefly through Honduras and into El Salvador where we sit at the moment.

Needless to say we are officially working our way north now and slowly working on returning to the Northwest at some point in the next year. We look forward to hearing from all of you and wish you all a happy, hopeful and prosperous 2007

Your wandering friends – Eric, Sarah and Bruce
